My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Samson didn't get the memo that Coonhounds are hunting dogs. Rather than chasing small animals, he prefers playing. Or snuggling. But hunting? Not really his thing. Samson and his never-ending velvet ears came to us after being shipped up from the south by another organization who then adopted him out despite him being filthy, emaciated and sick with kennel cough. Luckily, he had an amazing mom who immediately took him to the vet and started the process to getting him well. Sadly, the resident dog in the house decided he wasn't able to share his family with a new puppy and the previous group decided not to take him back, so we happily brought Samson into OMD. At 5 months and approximately 28lbs. our Coonhound mix thinks romping and jumping and making things fly through the air (sometimes himself included) are some of the best activities. Giving hugs to his humans and his dog friends? Also fantastic. After all, who doesn't love hugs? Because Samson is still a young guy and a higher energy breed, he would love an active family who will keep him properly exercised and a confident dog friend to teach him the ropes would be a plus. After a good jog or a hike, Samson is happy to curl up at your feet or next to you on the couch or if you will let him, he would love to pretend he is a small dog and cuddle up on your lap. Our sweet snuggle bug is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, becoming a crate training rockstar and working on perfecting his housebreaking skills. Need a hug?
