Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Good with children 7 plus years old.
My name is Riley. I am a smaller male red n white cocker spaniel about 4 to 5 years old with a natural tail. I might be mixed with a bit of Pekingese or some small breed, but I look mostly cocker. I came to rescue with 2 other cocker boys from a local shelter. All 3 of us were alone and running loose until we got picked up as strays by NC Animal Control. When no owner came looking for us the staff asked for rescue help because all 3 of us tested as strong heartworm positive.
I came here heartworm positive and the vet found that my needs had sadly been neglected. I was badly matted, filthy dirty, with skin issues and an ear infection. I was also covered with ticks and fleas and I had hooks and whipworms. Shortly after coming to rescue all 3 of us developed a respiratory infection, so we were taking medicines to get well. I have had my heartworm treatment and recovery time. My two doggie buddies have been adopted and I am ready to find a home. I've been neutered and I had a dental. It seems that someone must have loved me because I am gentle, loving and just a really nice boy. I am an incredibly sweet guy and I dearly crave human attention and love. I do have some visual issues that these folks noticed after seeing me act different than the other two cockers. The vet says that I am going blind from a rare genetic disorder called PRA -Progressive Retinal Atrophy. Nothing can be done for me and I will eventually be totally blind. I was taken to a specialist and he said the same. Please consider adopting me, I will be a nice companion for you to love. Being a special needs dog isn't that different from other dogs, it just means you need to love me more and go the extra mile to keep me comfortable and care for me properly. It's not that difficult. Fill out an application to get approved, I am so sweet and nice I might just steal your heart.
My adoption fee is: $350
