This is Oreo, she is a very smart girl! Her previous owners were not very nice to her so she can be a little shy at first but then she will love you forever. When she rolls over and allows you to rub her tummy you know you have won her trust. She looks at you like she has so many words to say, but she can't seem to get them out. Oreo is so grateful and loyal, actually hugging you when you return home. She is a gentle little thing,  despite  her being 50 lbs she is a lap dog at heart, she will,  ever so slowly try to sneak onto your lap .She loves to go for walks, always looking back to make sure you are still there.  She is great on a leash, she enjoys a leisurely walk or a run. She love loves loves to fetch! She would be a great bird dog for sure, she is very teachable and eager to please you.  If I have her for much longer I was thinking of training her for search and rescue. She is really intelligent, but also very calm. This is a hard combination to find. In my opinion, Oreo  would do best in a calm home, a family with older children or perhaps a retired couple, or single owner. The most important thing is for her to be around her family a lot. Also Oreo is a great guard dog, I always feel safe when I am home alone. She will always alert me when something is fishy. Oreo is a special girl, she seems to always steal a little piece of everyone's heart.

About Animal Shelter Volunteers of Texas

About Our Rescue Group...

ASVT is made up entirely of volunteers who love animals and advocate for healthy animals and adoption.

We transport dogs to higher rate adoption shelters for adoption.

We facilitate local adoptions by taking pets to local businesses and events for adoption fairs.

We provide medical care for ill/injured animals.

ASVT gladly accepts donations for our transport program, animal supplies (beds, cages, fencing, etc.) and for medical care. Thank you!

Come Meet Our Pets...

All of our animals are in foster homes. We ask that you email us with the animal's name in which you are interested. Please also complete an adoption questionnaire, which can be found at www.animalsheltervolunteersoftexas.com/adoptquestionnaire.html. We will contact the foster and ask them to contact you to set up a meet and greet.

Our animals do attend adoption events on weekends. Please check our Facebook page, Official Animal Shelter Volunteers of Texas, for locations and times.

Our Adoption Process...

To arrange a meeting with an adoptable pet, please complete an adoption questionnaire; www.animalsheltervolunteersoftexas.com/adoptquestionnaire.html.

Adopters will complete an adoption application and sign an adoption contract. The adoption is not final until the animal is spayed/neutered.

The adoption fee is $150 for dogs and $60 for cats. The adoption fee covers the spay/neuter surgery, core vaccinations, including rabies, and a microchip.
