Meet Pepper!! We sometimes call her Pep for short and she sure is peppy! She is a total cutie pie. We think she is a dachshund mix with maybe some basset hound in there also. Her little front paws turn in a bit like a basset but the rest of her seems more doxie. The vet thinks Pepper is approximately 6 months old now and weighs 16 pounds. She is unbelievably cute and such a joy to have around. She loves other dogs and has a blast playing with them. Probably best that if she is adopted to a home with another dog, it be a playful dog. She might be too playful and annoying to an older, more chill dog. She loves toys and even likes to play ball! She doesn’t seem to be scared of much at all. It is pretty cute when she spots her reflection in the mirror though and spends time trying to figure out “who that doggie is”.
Keep in mind, Pepper hasn’t been in her foster home long so we will need to update this bio with more updated information later. We’re not sure how she does on a leash yet because we’ve only carried her around, but am sure she will learn just like any other pup. She does really well in her crate and doesn’t make any noise in there at all. Just toss in a treat and she goes right in. Somebody did teach her to sit for treats! She is learning about potty training and is not there just yet. We are praising her when she potties outside though and she will learn eventually. She slept through the night just as quiet as could be in her crate next to foster moms bed.
Because she’s a puppy we are looking for an adopter that is home more often and will be able to let her out frequently and help train her. Potential adopters that are out of the home more than 5+ hours a day will not be a good fit for Pepper. She loves all people and am sure she’ll do just fine with children. She loves to be up on the couch and cuddling with you. She’s a special little gal, indeed. She is current on her shots, however, will need boosters since a puppy. She’s also spayed. Pepper is in her foster home in GA and will be transported to either MD or NJ when an approved adopter is found. Applicants must be willing to travel to either MD or NJ to pick her up.
