Petrie's Story...
Meet Petrie! Petrie is new here, so our caretakers are still learning about his personality. He is around 2-years-old, currently weighs 14lbs and was transferred from another shelter. He is still learning about where he is and seems to be more on the shy side if he's feeling overwhelmed. He gets along with other dogs, however we are not yet sure how he is with cats or kids. As we get to know him, we will let you know. Has this scruffy looking guy caught your eye? Spend some time with him today!

Petrie is available and able to have applications submitted once you've met. For more information, please give us a call at (302) 571-0111 or visit us at our center (701 A Street Wilmington, DE) Tuesday-Friday 12-7pm or Saturday & Sunday 12-5pm.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Petrie, a Wilmington Mixed Breed (Small)/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Mixed Breed (Small)/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) for sale in Wilmington, or seeking a Mixed Breed (Small)/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) dog from a breeder in Wilmington.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Wilmington already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Wilmington breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Mixed Breed (Small)/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) breeders who help with Mixed Breed (Small)/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Wilmington paves the way for another one to be saved.
