Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Mia was born close to January 2017, so, technically she is still a puppy with all the exuberance and playfulness. She has been in two different environments since coming to our rescue group from Mexico earlier in the year. So, we are quite sure what environment will benefit her and her new family.
We believe her mix includes Whippet, and her high alertness and energy level are indicative of the Whippet breed. AND, also true to the Whippet breed, when she is inside with her family, Mia calms down.
In her current home, she lives with two calm and active adults and one cat. This environment has been a miracle for Mia. She is settled down, relaxed, trustful, friendly, and just perfect!! In her foster home before this one, Mia was with 10 other dogs and the intense energy and pack mentality that comes with so many dogs was overwhelming to Mia. Now, we know her secret; we know what makes her happy; what makes her shine and we are so blessed that her current foster home was wiling to give this seemingly crazy girl a try. Again, let me say that she was only hyper when in a pack of 10 plus dogs; in her current home with one cat and two people, she has relaxed; she is off the congested freeway of the big pack mentality.
She is fine with kids, dogs, and cats; house trained, leash trained, and crate trained. HOWEVER, we are looking for a permanent home that is active but not crazy chaotic with young kids. Cats and nice dogs are fine. She really needs people who are active and interactive with her. She loves her people and will not do well with no interaction.
Mia needs daily walks but not necessarily a big back yard; she won't run around crazy for an hour and then come in docile. NO! She wants to be walked where she gets to meet the community and smell the world. Again, she wants to interact with her people and walking her is a part of that bonding and community for her.
Adoptions only to people in the San Francisco Bay Area or Santa Cruz County where she is currently fostered.
