Rain is one of the sweetest little girls you'll ever meet. She is a 6 year old Chihuahua/Whippet mix. She is pure love and appreciates the gentle touch from her person and a snuggle more than anything. She's very smart and knows basic commands. She wants to please her people, so she probably would enjoy learning some tricks. Rain is becoming more playful every day in her foster home, and likes to be with other dogs. She is house-trained and crate-trained. She loves to go for walks with her furry foster siblings and walks perfectly on a leash. She's been through a lot but has learned that humans can be gentle and kind. Small children still scare her, so older children would be best in her forever family. Rain would love a companion who wants to snuggle, give tummy rubs, go for occasional walks, and take her on trips in the car. Rain will continue to blossom into the wonderful dog she is meant to be. She is ready to give her forever family all the snuggles and love they can handle!

About Community Animal Welfare Society

About Our Rescue Group...

Founded in 1992 the Community Animal Welfare Society ( CAWS) is one of the oldest no-kill animal rescues in Utah. Over the last 20 years CAWS, our fosters and supporters have saved thousands of lives including over 600 last this year. As the largest foster home network in the state of Utah we focus on high risk pets in need of additional care and rehabilitation

Come Meet Our Pets...

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.

Our Adoption Process...

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.
