My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

As I was pulling to my work place Cooner ran right in front of my car. He was skinny scared and it took him bunch of treats to warm up to him so i can come near him. He was scared but yet he did not want to run away and instead followed me around. Finally he gained trust and let me pet him. He is super loving dog and is coming out of his shell. Vet says he is a young dog and about 1 to 2 years old. He is probably dumped hunting dog that was not performing good in hunting. He gets along with all my dogs and loves to play. He is great with children however he can get little too playful and overwhelming. For example if my 3 y old starts running he would chase him and due to his size/weight he can knock him over but as soon as he is told to stop he calms down. His weight is improving each day and he still is missing few lb but he is looking much better.
What works for Cooner :
-big fenced yard
-person that will spend most time.at home but its not necessary
-another big active dog to play with and run around the yard. That would be perfect because they can wear one another out.

What does NOT work out for Cooner
-being kept only outdoor (he loves his humans)
-non fenced yard/apartment, small yard.
-believe it or not but he does not do well with walks ...he is too scared from everything cars, bikes, children, unknown people,... he will buck while on the leash if he gets scared so if he is taken out he needs to be walked by an adult and not child.

Good habits
- very loving
-very friendly
-loves everybody
-potty trained 95 % ( does not mark )
-crate trained ... he will whine a bit but he is doing good overnight ... he is not human bed type of dog to sleep in.
Talks back and howls sometimes - i see that as good habit because i think its cute.

Bad habits
-steals belongings
-takes stuffing out of dog beds (don t waste your money seriously)
-he can be handful if his energy is not spent with his playfulness ...that is why he needs another active dog.
-counter surfer and will steal human food
-he will challenge your nerves just like a toddler ... so he really needs a person who will.work with him and teach him right from wrong and be the ALPHA DOG!

If you have any questions about this mischievous but amazing and loving personality dog please let me know. We always do trial home period to make sure dogs are perfect fit for you and your family.

These particular dogs are made to run. They can run 75 miles per day. They are very durable and stubborn. That is why hunters get them as hunting dogs. They would stalk a bear or mountain lion for days until animal is tired of running away ..... they need a JOB and somebody who will run them every day or at least have him in the house with another dog his size so they could play in the yard and wear each other out. Please have in mind this is not a typical indoor poodle type of a dog ...this kind of dog have need to be in outdoor environment and also needs activity exposure. At the same time this dog is NOT to be chained on the leash or let loose without any kind of supervision or tracking device...... He is very loyal type of a dog and usually bonds with one person. In this case he is bonded with me and he will need time to reset his thinking and bond to his new owner otherwise this dog will run away and try to come back to me .... they have incredible nose and knows their way home !

p.s. the last photo of him listed under his profile is photo in what shape he was found. He gained weight now and his health is perfect.
Thank you
