Here's what the humans have to say about me:
✰✰ CAL Male 1 - 2 years & AVAILABLE - for more photos of CAL please click http://norcalbcrescue.org/cal_2017.html ✰✰
CAL is a one to two-year-old border collie/kelpie mix. Affectionate and loving is how we would describe this smooth coat boy. He seeks and wants your approval and positive comments and is sometimes exuberant in his efforts to receive them. He is an active boy that is always busy, scoping things out when in the yard and looking for whatever he can find to do. In his video, you can see he is always on his toes!
CAL’s foster family has noticed that he gets along well with most dogs though he takes exception to some dogs and just does not like them. Interestingly, he seems to prefer females to males, but then again he gets along just fine with some males. His foster family thinks he would be ok in a home with another dog, especially if the other dog is a female. Because he decides who he likes or doesn’t, we would be wary of taking CAL to a dog park. He is rather cat curious as well and a home without kitties would be best.
CAL, being the high energy boy that he is, would do well with an owner who will take things slow and learn how to direct his energy into activities & behaviors that he will enjoy and win him approval with lots of praise. Becoming a Frisbee (flying disc) dog or perhaps herding might be a good activity for CAL. He would thrive in a home where he gets to spend time with his people, doing things that will challenge and stimulate him.
CAL is mostly housebroken, crate-trained for sleeping at night and rides well in the car. CAL is a very sweet boy looking for an owner to nurture his energetic spirit, coach him to adulthood, and be his sun, moon and stars.
CAL is micro-chipped, neutered, heart worm negative and on preventative, and up to date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (http://norcalbcrescue.org/adopt_info.html) and wish to enquire about CAL, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.
CAL is being fostered north of Sacramento, California.
