My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Pollyanna! This sweetheart is an American Bullly/Dalmatian mix and weighs about 43lbs. She is still under a year old and will probably top out in the mid 50’s. Pollyanna is deaf and will need a household who is willing to work on the consistency in her training. But just because she can’t hear doesn’t mean she won’t make the perfect pet!

Children love to play will Pollyanna and she loves to play with them too! She is very loving but can be quite clumsy, so she may be a bit much for smaller children while she is still learning. Playing with other pups is her favorite! Right from the get go she is frolicsome and just wants to have a great time. Structured introductions aren’t necessary and she would probably do great at a dog park, but since she is deaf, it’s important she knows a recall signal. Any person or pup she meets is an instant best friend as she’ll trot right up them without hesitation. Sometimes she can be startled if you sneak up on her since she can’t hear, but she recovers quickly and it doesn’t seem to bother her.

Pollyanna does great with cats. With first introductions, she is curious and wants to play, but it doesn’t take long before she just leaves them alone. So far we’ve found that she is housebroken and sleeps through the night! She keeps her crate clean and signals by pawing at the back door when she needs to go out. Crate training is still a work in progress; following food into the crate is easy, but she gets bored easily and tends to bark. Bones help a lot though!

A good day for Miss Pollyanna would be a couple 20-30 minute walks or play sessions and some time to explore the backyard world, sniffing around to help keep her mind stimulated. She LOVES playing with other dogs and exploring but can sleep all day after a play date, in true bulldog fashion! Pollyanna enjoys attention from dogs just as much as from her humans and isn’t needy. When out and about, you’ll find that she checks in with her people every couple of minutes to make sure they’re still around. Ultimately, she’s just a big, squishy smoosh who loves everyone and is just the friendliest!

To ensure our dogs are placed in a safe environment, we require a home visit for all adoptions. Because of this, we typically only adopt to homes within 30 minutes of Athens, GA. If you are further away than that and are interested in one of our pups, please still fill out an application and we can discuss your options. Please understand that you would be responsible for all transportation - meeting the dog, picking the dog up to start a trial, returning the dog should he/she not be a good fit, etc. Please visit our website for more info.
