Meet Luke! Luke is a 5 year old Poodle/Bichon mix that is ready to start his new life with his forever home. He is a handsome gray color, which is very unique compared to the common white poodle types. Also, being a poodle mix he does not shed! Keep in mind, however, that though he does not shed his coat will grow long, so he will need to be groomed and have a haircut 3-4 times a year to keep him looking adorable!

Luke was found running the streets and it took two months for people to catch him. He has been in a few foster homes, each helping him get closer to where he is meant to be.

Luke is currently learning how great life can be in a loving home with dogs and people. Luke can be shy during the first meeting of a new dog, but he bonds very strongly with his canine companions after a short period. Luke gains his confidence with people through his foster brother’s balanced personality. He is learning about human touch and slowly getting better with each day. He has not shown any aggression, just wants to run away. So his adopter is going to need to be patient with him in the beginning realizing that he is not going to be the dog to snuggle up on their lap at first. He does sleep in a crate at night, and in the morning after he has gone out to potty, he will jump in bed with his foster mom and her dog. She gives him a good doggie massage during this time to continue with positive touch. We think that with patience and time he will enjoy cuddling up next to his human. He also does well lying next to his foster brother on the couch receiving human affection. He is definitely a pack dog and likes everyone to be together.

Luke follows his foster mom around the house inquisitively to see what is happening. He can be a very determined boy when he wants something and will tell you all about it at times. He LOVES to run and play chase with other dogs so he would do best in a home with another active dog. A balanced canine companion is a must for him to have companionship and feel safe in an adoptive home, and people who will help him continue his growth with human touch. If you think that you would be a good match for Luke we would love to hear from you!
