Facts about Dex

  • Breed: Chihuahua Mix
  • Color: White
  • Age: Senior
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Male
**Dex is currently being fostered in Houston. Unfortunately, meeting him prior to his adoption will not be possible. Dex’s adoption donation is $500USD, which includes his flight, a new kennel, and he is fully vetted and healthy. There is an additional ~$125CAN due at customs upon pick up. This is a custom's fee and not related to rescue expenses. Because the flights are so expensive, the adoption donation is non-negotiable.**

Dex came to us when his family was no longer able to take care of him. He is such a sweet boy and we quickly agreed to find him the most amazing retirement home.

Dex is a roughly 7-year-old Chihuahua mix. He is around the 20-pound mark, but he’s a little chubby so we are working to get some weight off him to better his health.
Dex is an easy-going guy who acclimated well into his foster family. He currently lives with other dogs and some kitty friends. He lives with young pups right now, but prefers a bit older crowd to stroll around with.

Dex does not currently live with kids, but he has an overall great disposition and we think he would do fine in a family who has children who have been taught how to be respectful of animals.

Dex is fully house and kennel trained and would make a great companion for a low-key family. He loves to go for walks, but with his older age, his energy level is not extremely high. He does well meeting new people and likes to ride in the car.

Dex should be adopted by a family who understands that he will take time and patience as he acclimates into his new life. He may have accidents, chew on things he is not supposed to, and bark in his kennel. It can take dogs a few weeks to properly acclimate to their new lives, so he is seeking a family that can give him this time and work with him as he adjusts.

We expect our dogs to be adopted by families who plan to keep them as indoor pets and part of the family. We do not adopt to families who plan to keep dogs outside for an extended period of time, for example the entire workday.

Dex is fully vetted - shots, neuter, deworming microchip. He has been heartworm tested - negative. He has no known health or allergy issues.

If you are interested in adding Dex to your family, the first step is to fill out an adoption application via the following link: https://reggiesfriends.org/adoptables/

About Reggie's Friends - Calgary

About Our Rescue Group...

Reggie’s Friends was founded out of our love for helping dogs. Living in a city of 1.2 million homeless animals, there was rarely a day when we didn’t see a dog in need of help. Instead of just wanting to do something, we figured out how to do something! Reggie’s Friends is dedicated to the health and welfare of dogs in and around the greater Houston, TX area. We focus our attention on street dogs and shelter cases that other rescues may not have the resources for. We live and love by our motto Street Life To Sweet Life.

Our Adoption Process...

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application. This can be done via our website at the following link: https://reggiesfriends.org/adoptables/

Our team will then review the application, contact references, perform a vet-check, and request photos of the common areas of the house and yard that serve in lieu of a home visit.

Following the completion of the application, we set up video chats either through Skype or Facetime between the foster and adoptive families.

Our adoption fee is $500USD, which includes the cost of transport and any relevant vet care appropriate to their age.Dogs flying into Canada are subject to an additional ~$125 in custom's fees. These fees are for customs and not related to the rescue or its expenses.

The application process generally takes between 5-7 days as all volunteers also have full time jobs and families.
