Ophelia's Story...
Ophelia scored all A's in her temperament evaluation and was rated NO CONCERN the highest compliment to a dog.

"I lov'd Ophelia: forty thousand brothers Could not, with all their quantity of love, Make up my sum." wrote Shakespeare. Our little Ophelia doesn't have a Hamlet to love her that much, but she certainly has many people who care about her and want to save her life. But Ophelia only has 24 hrs to leave the shelter alive. We're calling on you animal lovers to help us save Ophelia from death by either adopting her or providing a temporary foster home.

Ophelia's fate seems to be sealed. Only an extraordinary, kind person could change it. This mild-mannered Staffordshire Bull Terrier Mix is in peril, and her life needs saving. She is barely two years old and would be a devoted companion with an owner who would care for her. Ophelia (meaning "HELP" in Greek) has a lion's heart and an angel's smile. She's a sweet dog and was clearly someone's well loved princess before she lost her home and landed in the street where she was found by a good samaritan who couldn't keep her beyond a week and took her to a city shelter. Being at the shelter is really hard on Ophelia. What a loyal little girl Ophelia is! She obviously misses her owner as she stands near every exit door, most likely looking for that important person in her life that she misses. But she will no more. Her fortune would be to become a treasured family member. If your own future needs a loyal companion for years to come, then you need to adopt Ophelia.

Ophelia has a small injury to one of her toes that is being treated. Other than that she's in great shape. She seems comfortable among other dogs, absolutely adores people and is petite at 34 pounds. She's one of the most beautiful Staffies this volunteer has met, with a silky tri-color (ranging from golden tawny to mahogany) brindle coat and amber eyes. She only needs to cheer up and start a new life.

Ophelia must find a home and family immediately. Rather, a family must find Ophelia and discover what a loving pet she'd make. She's affectionate even with strangers and appears at ease with other dogs. She's eager to please and would learn your commands quickly.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ophelia, a New York Staffordshire Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Staffordshire Bull Terrier for sale in New York, or seeking a Staffordshire Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in New York.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in New York already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a New York breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Staffordshire Bull Terrier breeders who help with Staffordshire Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in New York paves the way for another one to be saved.
