Meet our sweet girl, Mila! This sweet, quiet girl was a pup whose original owners didn't care enough about her to keep her fed, healthy, indoors or vetted. She was almost struck in the street when we were driving through our neighborhood so we picked her up. Neighbors in the area said she was just a dog who was constantly pregnant and living off trash in the area. So Mila joined a new beginning, one where she is loved, kept safe, and lives inside.
Mila is a big, long girl who will weigh in at around 80+ lbs when all filled out. She was extremely emaciated when she came into rescue, so it will take some time to get her all filled out properly. She is an extremely easy going dog who, true to her Shepherd breed, is extremely attached to people. She adores humans of all sizes and ages, and is gentle and affectionate to even the smallest of humans. She would make an excellent addition to any size family who is looking. She clearly was familiar with raising puppies, so she is very motherly. She gets along fine with dogs of all size, but seems to have a soft spot for the smaller ones specifically. She is a very submissive dog when greeting others. Mila also doesn't mind cats, if anything is a little cat curious, which means that she will follow the cats around the house closely and whine at them when they won't pay her any mind. We just call her over and she leaves them alone and stops pestering them.
Mila is extremely well behaved indoors, contrary to her obvious life of living out in the woods. She is fully crate trained, she doesn't mind being in her kennel when we are resting or not home and doesn't potty at all. She will whine and paw at the doors when she needs to go out. She is fully housebroken meaning she is not destructive, does not make messes in the house, and respects boundaries when given. She is great on a leash, though she could still use some work with socializing out on leash since she is still new to being a real dog.
She is fully vetted meaning she is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and on monthly flea and heartworm prevention. Mila is unfortunately heartworm positive, but it is just in it's earliest stage so we are currently treating her and she is soon to be heartworm free.
