Kara's Story...
Kara is a sweet girl looking for a home where she will have lots of company and love. Kara came to our shelter because her elderly owner had Alzheimer's and could no longer care for her. Kara gets along well with other dogs. She is very overweight, bur has lost a significant amount since being in our care. Kara's owner was feeding her lots of table scraps and exercise was minimal.

Kara is 6-8 years old, spayed and vaccinated for Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella. She tested negative for heartworm and tick borne diseases and is current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Kara is microchipped with a lifetime registration.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Kara, a North Haven Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in North Haven, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in North Haven.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in North Haven already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a North Haven breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in North Haven paves the way for another one to be saved.
