My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET FRANKIE -

Frankie is Oregon Dachshund Rescue's newest Puppy Brigade member and is SO ready to meet his forever family. This 1 year old, 10.5 lb, black and tan low-rider Dachshund angel is so adorable and will surely melt the heart of every family. He is full of charm and personality, but like all puppies, needs lots of love and attention and training. Frankie has been fully vetted and neutered and is all ready to meet you.
Frankie can be over protective of his family and may nip at people while in protective mode. Hes kinda in stubborn teenager mode. He tends to guard resources, and may be protective while hes in his crate. He needs an extra patient doxie savvy owner. He is in need of some extra socialization but he is young and has a lot of love to give!

FRANKIE's ideal forever family will be an active, doxie savvy family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired). He is a sweet puppy who needs to learn to love and trust so he needs to be the one and only baby so he can give you all his love and affection. We're sure he will keep you entertained to no end. His new family will also need to commit to finishing his puppy training so that Frankie can achieve ALL his doxie potential.

Like all Dachshunds, FRANKIE is high energy and enjoys playing and warming his little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around his neighborhood, FRANKIE needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give FRANKIE a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
