Marietta's Story...
Marietta is a small, black, spitfire of a girl. She is adores people and can’t wait to meet everyone she sees, tail wagging. So far, she hasn’t met an adult or child she didn’t immediately consider to be her new best friend. Even the vet was a wonderful guy to be around!

A very smart dog, Marietta is already mastering the “sit” command and is working hard to perfect her leash manners. She is easily distractable when she sees squirrels and foxes on our walks. She loves to get in the car and go places, and is equally happy to curl up in her crate and nap. As long as she has plenty of bedding to rearrange to her liking, she is one happy little girl.

Marietta gets along well with all the resident greyhounds (and there are a lot) and also with smaller breeds. She is excited to see them but greets them politely and is then ready to move on.

This personality-plus girl has been diagnosed with a condition called “dry eye.” She has seen a veterinary ophthalmologist, who has a plan to get the condition under control, but tells us that the process will take a number of months. After it is well-controlled, she will require prescription eye drops at least twice a day for the rest of her life. But don’t let that stop you—this outgoing girl hasn’t let it slow her down a bit. Interested in meeting Marietta? Apply today for the chance!

Marietta will be available for in-home meetings with approved adopters beginning 5/26.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Marietta, a Spencerville Greyhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Greyhound for sale in Spencerville, or seeking a Greyhound dog from a breeder in Spencerville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Spencerville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Spencerville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Greyhound breeders who help with Greyhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Spencerville paves the way for another one to be saved.
