My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Layla is a one-and-a-half-year-old beauty with a passion for snuggling, balls, shoelaces and her favorite feather toy. She had a SECRET when she came to EBCP: she is deaf and her previous owners didn’t say anything about it. That made things very scary for her. When her foster mom picked her up, she was so scared that she was sitting in her litter box and hissing like crazy. She was trying to look like a big, scary monster.

With patience and intuition, Layla's foster mom discovered she is deaf. She noticed Layla didn't look at her when she entered the room. She started making loud noises a few different times while Layla's head was turned away. She even shouted and pounded on the wall. Layla couldn't hear a thing! She didn't notice her foster mom was in the room until her mom tapped on the ground to let Layla know she was there. That is one way she prevents Layla from being startled.

Now that Layla can be herself and people know her secret, she is much happier. What would make her the happiest cat ever? To find a loving forever home!

Layla is curious, super affectionate and loves to be petted, cuddled and given kitty kisses on the head. She will roll over so you can rub her belly. She wants to be around her humans—especially to play, play, play! She lives with a foster brother—a senior German Shepherd—and with a slow introduction, she could join a family with children and pets. Layla is up-to-date on shots, FIV/Leukemia negative, wormed and flea treated.

Layla will thrive in a household that understands her deafness and is willing to take simple steps, like turn on a light when entering a room so she doesn’t get startled. She adores her cat tree, floating shelves and other high perches, which let her view her surroundings and feel safe. Her new home will need some high places where she can sit, though she also lounges on a cat bed or couch.

To make Layla’s new home comfortable right away, her foster mom will send her favorite Jackson Galaxy toy; a scratcher and cat bed; the fountain from her foster room; and a huge bag of food. Then all she needs is lots of love and a willingness to care for a deaf kitty. Are you ready to meet Layla and begin an incredible journey with her? If so, contact EBCP today!
