Shashi's Story...

Shashi is an 11 lb Maltese with spunk. He loves to play with squishy toys. Give him a bone and he will hide it in different places for safe keeping. Leave the house for 5 minutes and he'll jump and bark for joy the moment you return. I've had him almost 11 years and he has the same energy he had when he was 2. He sleeps a lot when all is calm but will get up to play the moment you give him a treat. Once he gets to know you he will follow you everywhere around your house. Be sure to leave wee wee pads when you leave him alone and keep him in a room with no carpets. He's curious around other dogs but is quick to try to dominate, especially dogs his size when he first meets them. Once he gets to know other dogs he likes to keep to himself for the most part. But I've never seen him hurt or attack another dog. You can pick him up and hold him. He won't bite as long as you don't surprise grab him from behind.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Shashi, a Belleville Maltese dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maltese for sale in Belleville, or seeking a Maltese dog from a breeder in Belleville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Belleville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Belleville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maltese breeders who help with Maltese rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Belleville paves the way for another one to be saved.
