Bunny's Story...
Bunny is a very sweet adult female Lhasa Apso, born 11/15/2009; she has a lovely golden non-shedding coat and weighs 14 pounds. Bunny arrived at the Safehouse on 05/04/2017 along with six of her brothers and sisters. Her owner was unable to care for so many dogs. She has lived a quiet sheltered life with many other doggy companions and is reticent around people. A little lost right now, change isn’t easy for a Lhasa, like cats, they prefer consistency and find any change upsetting. She is gradually becoming more self-confident, her personality is emerging and she can be quite playful, enjoys playing with toys, sits nicely for treats and finds comfort in a quiet corner or kennel. Gentle and friendly, she wants to be petted and she will even give little cautious kisses. However, if you are looking for a dog to pick up, cuddle and hug . . . LOOK ELSEWHERE!! That is not Lhasa Apso behavior. There is an innate regal dignity to this magnificent breed .... intelligent, quiet, an excellent companion without being clingy or demanding, regal, independent and stubborn. Bunny is housetrained to wee-wee pads and is doing very well in adjusting to “potty outside”. Having never worn a collar or harness, she does not know how to walk on leash but Lhasa are extremely bright so going for walks will be an easy training exercise for her new family. She gets along with small dogs, after all she has lived with her many brothers and sisters all her life; however, she could be just as content as an only dog. More than likely, she would also do well with cats. Bunny really is a loving dog, but will be best in an adult's only home or one with children over the age of 10 years. She is a perfect pet for someone who wants a loving, quiet, intelligent and utterly devoted companion; a caregiver who will appreciate her Lhasa magnificence and understands the importance of obedience classes. Bunny is spayed, microchipped, current on all vaccines, heartworm and flea/tick preventative, and she has had a complete physical and dental. Her adoption fee is $200.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Bunny, a Homer Glen Lhasa Apso dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Lhasa Apso for sale in Homer Glen, or seeking a Lhasa Apso dog from a breeder in Homer Glen.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Homer Glen already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Homer Glen breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Lhasa Apso breeders who help with Lhasa Apso rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Homer Glen paves the way for another one to be saved.
