My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

OMG!!! How to describe Tommy!! Lovable, huggable, charming, I could go on and on. Tommy is a totally irresistible (just look at that face!!), slightly overweight (14 pounds), adult, male Shih Tzu. He has a soft non-shedding white coat with black markings that will require professional grooming on a 6-8 week schedule. Born 11/08/2009, Tommy arrived at the Safehouse on 05/04/2017 along with six of his brothers and sisters. His owner was unable to care for so many dogs. He has lived a quiet sheltered life with many other doggy companions but Tommy is not shy. He loves people and attention and hugs and butt rubs, and sunshine, back yards, toys and, especially . . . treats!! Is Tommy special??? YES!!! Does Tommy deserve a special home?? Yes and that’s just what he is looking for. If you are looking for a nice quiet dog that will sit on your lap all day while you waste away your life, look elsewhere. Tommy needs a home with a family that is full of life, one that will play with him, share their activities with him, have fun with him and delight in him. Tommy is housetrained to wee-wee pads and is doing very well in adjusting to “potty outside”. Having never worn a collar or harness, he does not know how to walk on leash; since all dogs need healthy exercise, going for walks will be a fun learning experience to be shared with his new family. Tommy gets along with other small dogs, after all he has lived with his many brothers and sisters all his life and a home with another small companionable dog would be a bonus. More than likely, he would also do well with cats. A home with young children would be too overwhelming, but the relaxed attention of older children would be welcome. A perfect family dog. Tommy is healthy, neutered, microchipped, current on all vaccines, heartworm and flea/tick preventative, and he has had a complete physical and dental. His adoption fee is $200..
