A Little Bit About Me
This lovely and dignified lady finds herself in search of a forever family this late in life. Maddie is about ten or 11 years young and has had many life experiences which we will never know. What we do know is that Maddie is sweet and gentle and has lots of love to give someone. She is deserving of a loving home with a new family.
Maddie was surrendered by her previous owner because, unfortunately, she suffers from separation anxiety. The owner could no longer afford day care for Maddie while he was at work. Maddie also had a traumatic event when she was frightened by a loud noise while she was in her crate. In a panic, she clawed her way out and injured herself badly. This event most certainly cemented the separation anxiety in her mind. Therefore, we feel the very best situation for Maddie is with a family where someone is at home all day and she is never left alone. Our behavior staff will speak with you about separation anxiety and what it entails to help a dog who suffers from it.
Maddie is laid back and tolerant. She's a been-there-done-that kind of girl. Kids (age six and up) should be respectful of her age and space. One thing we know Maddie likes are belly rubs. She has had some training but could probably use a tune up, so enroll her in a family dog training class. This would be a good way to bond with Maddie and get to know her.
We think Maddie is a very special girl and we hope the right adopter comes along so that she can live out her life in peace and happiness.
