Charlie has gone from wounded shelter pup to sweater model thanks to his fantastic foster mama! This handsome, affectionate, sweet little Chihuahua boy was brought into a public shelter after suffering a trauma (his injuries indicate that he was likely hit by a car) that left him with broken ribs on the left side of his little body. Nothing will dampen his gentle spirit, however, and one of his favorite things to do is snuggle and soak up life in the lap of luxury! Charlie is estimated to be 9 years of age and is neutered, microchipped and current on his vaccines. X-rays done at the time of his neuter showed that he was healing up quite well, and based on how much love he has to give and how well he gets around, it seems he's feeling great! Charlie is not expected to have any long-term effects of his rib fractures, and this little guy is ready to find a great forever home. He'd do fantastic in an adult home or one with small-dog savvy teenagers and he's been great with his foster mom's resident dogs. He's an absolute charmer who would love nothing more than to wiggle his way into your heart (give him 2.2 seconds and his spell has been cast!). CCHS is able to help deserving dogs like Charlie, as well as in-need cats, through our Phinny Fund for Emergency Medical and Special Needs Animals. If you'd like to help us save the lives of these deserving friends, please consider donating to the Phinny Fund today through our donation link. Thank you! Location: Foster Home

About Contra Costa Humane Society

About Our Rescue Group...

Contra Costa Humane Society is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that operates such programs as Adoptions, Kitty Corner, Spay/Neuter Assistance, and AniMeals. We are not affiliated with any other rescue organization, humane society or spca.

Our mission is to empower our community to improve the quality of life for animals and decrease euthanasia rates. Through our programs and services, we connect with individuals and private and public organizations to adopt pets, reduce the number of unwanted animals, and educate the public to foster compassion, responsibility and respect towards animals.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our business office and Kitty Corner are located at 171 Mayhew Way, Suite 101 in Pleasant Hill, CA 94523.

Kitty Corner houses adult, senior, and special-needs cats (sometimes teenage kittens). Kitty Corner is open for adoptions on Saturday, Sunday & Monday from 12-3pm or during the week (preferably by appointment to make sure someone's available to show you the cats).

All of our dogs, puppies and kittens are located off-site in foster homes and can be met by appointment once adoption applications have been received and approved.

Our Adoption Process...

CCHS has animals available for adoption through a number of different avenues. Many of our kittens and all dogs are cared for in loving foster homes until they are adopted. Teenage, adult, senior and special-needs cats reside at Kitty Corner, an on-site, private cat shelter where cats are allowed to free-roam at all times, lounge in sunny windows and on comfy cat towers, and play to their heart's galore. Similarly, we also have animals available for adoption through our Re-Homing Assistance Program, where we help to advertise animals that caregivers are no longer able to keep.

If you are interested in meeting any of the animals listed on our website, please complete an adoption application unless otherwise noted!

Adoption fees are:
Kittens under 6mo: $130 ($200 for two)
