Special Needs Home for this guy please.  HOUSE BROKEN-NEUTERED & FULLY VETTED!

This super cute, sweet guy is Jax.  He is a 18 lb Beagle/Puggle/Toy Terrier/Chihuahua mix. Jax is a timid guy but incredibly sweet.  When he first came to me almost 5 months ago, he would try to hide behind the toilet or under a chair.  He was so fearful of everything but he never showed any aggression.  After working with him over these months he has progressed so much!  He now freely roams the house, comes to me on his own for snuggles, and will eat from my hand. He could not do any of these in the beginning.

There are two other dogs in the house and he loves playing with them in the backyard.  He is happiest outside and does best in a fenced  backyard.  Jax is still very timid and will hide at the sound of loud noises, quick movements around him or unfamiliar people.  He does do better and is more confident and trusting with other stable dogs around to follow. He loves to go on walks! He stays by your side and does not pull.  Jax loves chew toys but at this point will only chew on it when he believes no one is watching.

Jax has never been in a crate since I’ve had him because he has never needed to.  He sleeps in the living room at night and just recently became brave enough to join the other dogs on the bed.

The person/family that adopts Jax should be experienced with fearful dogs in a way that slow movements and small increments are required.  In other words, he needs a VERY patient owner.  He is a sweet dog that will need the help from another stable dog in his life.  He prefers a dog that will play and run around with him but isn't dominant. A large dog may intimidate him, but the energy of the dog matters more than the size.  High energy around Jax will not be good for him, which includes small children.  Older kids are fine.  Despite his fearfulness, he is such a good dog.  He loves human touch and wants to be loved right back.  It has taken him many months to get to this point, and moving him to a new home may set him back a bit, which is completely normal.  This is why it is imperative that his new owner have experience with dogs like him and is willing and able to put in the time and has the patience needed to allow him to explore the world on his terms, and to enjoy the fact that he’s a sweet little lap dog who loves his humans.  Jax and I were lucky enough to have a dog trainer help along the way.  She is happy to offer continued help as Jax transitions to a new home.  Fenced yard please!

About K9 Lifeline Rescue, Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

K9 Lifeline Rescue (K9LLR)/ Dalmatian Rescue of Wisconsin is a small group of caring individuals who volunteer their valuable time to work hard in finding forever homes for dogs, puppies and any animal that our hearts lead us to. We work closely with rural shelters where adoptions are low and putting animals to sleep because of space is always a problem for them. These animals deserve a chance at a happy, healthy life too and we are proud to be able to make this happen.
K9LLR also helps families who can no longer keep their pet for various reasons (moving, financial, allergies) find new loving homes for them before they have to take them to a shelter!
