Meet Zippy the (Paralyzed) Wonder Dog! Even though Zippy’s back legs don’t work, she’s the fastest little munchkin. She loves to play, go outside, meet other dogs and people. She is the sweetest, most gentle love nugget ever. We think she is approximately 2 years old, is a Maltese or Maltipoo and weighs 9.5lbs. Since rescuing her, we’ve had her checked out by the vet and neurologist, and they say that she will never regain feeling in her back legs, but she is otherwise really healthy. While she is all kinds of awesome, she does require more work than an able-bodied dog. She cannot pee on her own so she needs to have her bladder manually expressed every few hours. She also cannot control her poop, but she has a “tell” so we’ve been able to avoid too many mistakes. She also wears a diaper so that helps.
She loves going on walks and can do so either in her drag bag if it’s a short walk or in her wheelchair for longer ones. She actually loves to run when in her wheelchair.
