Ziggy is a 4 1/2 year old Boxer Mix. He was adopted from our rescue when he was 18 months old. He is a sweet guy, and loves his family and children. Unfortunately, he has to be rehomed because his Mom had back surgery, and Ziggy is just too strong for her to walk him. Since they have younger kids, they wouldn't be able to control walking him either.

Ziggy got along with the families other Boxer and they would play all day. Sadly the other Boxer passed away last year and Ziggy really misses him.

Ziggy is very strong and could use more training to work on his leash walking as he pulls. He is fine with children, but to powerful for kids to walk him. He can be reactive around other dogs at times on leash, but can easily be redirected. He is typically fine with introductions to other dogs, as long as it's done properly. Ziiggy must have a home with a fenced in yard. This guy is a sweetie, and quite handsome. Please consider helping him find a new family.

You can save animals like this one by becoming a foster home for a dog in need! Fosters are like way stations between high kill shelters and forever homes. We need fosters so that we can save dogs before they are euthanized at the shelters. If you are interested in becoming a foster, please check out our information about fostering on our website:

MMR covers the vet care, food, and tools to get started. You supply the love. Fostering saves lives. Sometimes a foster home is the only thing standing between life and death.

About Mutts Matter Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

A Little History... Mutts Matter Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non profit, all volunteer based organization, with combined rescue experience of over 15 years. We work in conjunction with shelters and other organizations to help save animals on death row, the strays on the street, or ones in unsafe living conditions. We adopt in the DC, VA, and MD areas, with a few exception out of the tri-state area depending on the dog and situation. We are driven by love, compassion, and hope.

All of our rescues enter their new home spayed or neutered, up to date on all shots, and are micro-chipped. If we take a dog into our rescue, we do our very best to ensure that they are healthy before going to their new “furever”home. With enough hard work and dedication, we hope to be able to empty the shelters one day soon.

Our Adoption Process...

We require you to fill out an adoption application on our website at www.muttsmatterrescue.com
The application will ask for both a vet and personal reference. Both will need to be verified. After those are checked, a pre-screener contacts you to discuss your application.
Once that is complete, they screener decides if they are recommended for a home visit. If the home visit goes well and they are approved to adopt, then they can meet the dog.
Our adoption fee includes the cost of routine vetting, spay/neuter, and microchipping.
