My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BODIE: 8 Month Old Yellow Lab Neutered Male 45 Pounds

Bodie has been well loved and cared for by his previous owners since he was 4 months old. They live in an apartment and due to a job change they feel that they do not have the time to commit to the needs of a young lab puppy. They are familiar with GGLRR and decided it was in Bodie's best interest to have us find him a new home. He went to doggie day care 5 days/week and loved being with the other dogs. They took him to the beach on weekends to swim. It was a difficult decision for them to surrender him but they knew it was in Bodie's best interest.

From Bodie’s Foster Mom:

Bodie is a sweet boy that needs guidance. He barks at meeting new people but will adjust if they don't try to reach out and pet him. He shows absolutely no signs of aggression. He loves playing with my 5 year old Lab. He sleeps through the night on a dog bed next to my bed. Crate training has never been done prior to coming to us so we introduced him slowly and he is doing very well. If someone is home he is not crated and when everyone is out he is crated without any issues. Over time he does better having people around but it is best that he go to a home that is less chaotic. Because he loves playing with other dogs and wants to meet and greet every dog he sees, we are currently using a correction collar when we walk him. He is a handful on leash when he sees another dog because he so wants to play with the other dog. This is something that can be overcome with his new owner and working with a trainer. He is very treat motivated, which is helpful for training a dog. Bodie is housebroken and rides well in the car. At home, he is calmer than the average Lab puppy. He lets me pick him up on my lap and cuddle with him. He is content laying by my side and hanging out. Bodie gets more attached to his primary care giver. There is no resource guarding of toys or food. He is intense when retrieving the ball/frisbee. He knows basic commands.

From Bodie’s Rescue Rep:

Lab Rescue is looking for someone who is home most of the day to provide the training, structure and guidance that Bodie needs. We are looking for someone who has had experience raising a puppy. He has made very good progress since arriving at his foster home. He has lots of energy so plenty of exercise is a key for his success. He really enjoys swimming. Any kids in the home should be 10 and older. He has prey drive so a cat free home is a must. He most likely will not be a big male as his parents are between 60-70 pounds. Because Bodie loves playing with other dogs, a second (non-puppy) dog of comparable energy would be a big plus.

Medical: Bodie is healthy, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and microchipped.

Bodie is located in Mountain View.

If you are around for most of the day and are willing to make a commitment to raising this sweet boy as part of your pack, call Rescue Rep Sandy @ 650-303-2436. Please leave good days/times to call.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
