MUNECA is a 1 - 2 year old spayed chocolate Labrador Retriever. She is a young, fun-loving girl looking for her forever family. She is heartworm positive, but undergoing "slow-kill" treatment.
MUNECA would be best in a home where she is an only dog. She enjoys playing with other dogs in dog-friendly places, but is very possessive once she gets attached to her person.
MUNECA's life started out difficult - - she was chained outside, without veterinary care or love for most of her young life. She had at least one litter of puppies prior to being turned into the local animal shelter (her blind daughter TINA was turned in with her). When she was pulled from the shelter, she was high heartworm positive, very ill and suspected of being pregnant again. She was seen immediately and, at that time, the Vet was unable to feel movement of any puppies, nor was she able to hear any heartbeats. She began a wellness program to get her healthy.
MUNECA did not display signs of being pregnant, but about two weeks later her foster mom noted her teats were starting to swell slightly. We were going to schedule an appointment for her, but MUNECA had one pup the very next evening. She was watched all night, but she didn't have any more. She was brought into the Vet the next morning and the x-ray indicated that she had an additional 8 pups inside. Unfortunately, the Vet couldn't get heartbeats on any of the pups and they were not moving around. MUNECA needed to have an emergency C-section right then. She was only given a 50/50 chance of survival since she was heavy heartworm positive and her heart and lungs were compromised. Only three of her pups survived past one week old - BALOO, JILL, and FIONA ROSEMARY. She stayed at the Vet's office for 5 additional days after her emergency C-section before she was healthy enough to go back to her foster mom.
In July 2017, MUNECA underwent surgery on one of her eyes. She had entropion, which is a condition where her eyelid is too long. She was recently re-checked and will require a revision surgery.
If you have any questions, please contact email@example.com. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application at www.hhfrescue.org. Thank you for considering a rescued dog!
The adoption fee includes vaccinations, bordetella, deworming, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. There is an additional $10.99 fee for Home Again for a lifetime registration of the microchip. If adopting a puppy, the rabies and spay/neuter will be done at the same time by our vet once they are 4 months old and billed to us. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it.
