Marmaduke's Story...
Marmaduke's story is still a little sketchy for us... All we know for sure is he was in danger so we took him in. Apparently born in the summer of 2011 (making him about 6 yrs old now) His original owner paid about $3000 for him... and wanted him to hunt... But at 6 months of age he showed no desire to hunt and was going to be shot. A co-worker convinced the man to give him more time... but 2 months later at the age of 8 months Duke was found tied to this co-workers porch. He has been with this family since that day. Duke is said by that family to be great with children and is a great dog except for a little separation anxiety... So I'm not sure why they gave him up or why he was in the condition he was when we received him. Duke is now about 6 yrs old and just wants a family. He is very sweet and loving, a leaner and clingy guy. He has calluses on his boney prominences (which were oozing and infected) and could care less about other dogs. He is lymes pos and has an old man "cowboy" stance. He appears much older than his stated age and came with no paperwork, although they said he is AKC registered etc. Duke loves to eat and prefers to lay on a soft bed, but stays off furniture. He's a really sad looking guy who just needs a family with an open heart and a big doggie bed.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Marmaduke, a Washington Coonhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Coonhound for sale in Washington, or seeking a Coonhound dog from a breeder in Washington.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Washington already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Washington breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Coonhound breeders who help with Coonhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Washington paves the way for another one to be saved.
