My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there! Thank-you for clicking on my profile, I’d love to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about adopting me.

Hi friends! My name is Lito and I am a 4 month old Chihuahua / Terrier mixed male who is looking for my fur-ever family to love me a LOT! I was found as a stray and ended up with some nice people at a shelter who contacted my friends at NBS Animal Rescue to come help me find my fur-ever family. It was scary for a bit but then I found the bestest foster mom and dad a playful pup could ever ask for and there is not looking back now!

My foster mom says that I am a playful pup, who LOVES to play fetch in his fenced back yard. I am an expert walker on a leash with my harness, I like kitty cats, and I am good with other dogs who don't mind a super energetic puppy who likes to play a lot! I am potty pad trained, and am learning how to do my personal business outside, but I get a little nervous outside on my own so I would do best with a family who will be patient and go outside with me and give me tasty treats when I do my personal business outside.

I really really really love people - they always tell me how sweet and adorable I am and give me tasty treats! I can be a bit shy at first, but with a soft word and some patience I quickly become your best friend!

My ideal home would be one with a fenced yard, a family who was home often and who had a schedule who could arrange to take me outside to potty frequently. I would like a home with kids ages 12 and up as because I'm still a puppy, I'm still learning how to keep my paws on the floor, and my sharp puppy chompers off of your fingers when we are playing. Another dog to play with would be great if they don't mind energetic, pouncy pups like me! My foster mom says I am learning how to be happy in a crate when my foster parents are at work, but it is not my favorite place to be and I will tell you about my displeasure at first. Because of this I probably wouldn't make your neighbors very happy if you live in an apartment or an attached condo.

I go to the doggy doctor this week to be neutered and get my booster vaccines and then I'll be all set to find my fur-ever home!

My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?

These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Family who is gone no longer than 4 hour periods or with a plan for a daily doggy walker on application.
- Children must be 12yrs or older.
- 100% fenced in yard preferred. Sorry, no invisible fences please.
- No apartments or attached condos please.

If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:

1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.

3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
