There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in anything but a wonderful home that wants them in a forever kind of way.
Damita, at only 12 weeks old and approximately 6 lbs (estimated to be full grown at about 25 lbs) was facing a future in a cage at a shelter praying for a family to love her. Damita was very fortunate to end up in the hands of a compassionate family who wanted the best for her...but felt if they had no choice, it would have to be the shelter.
Farfel's rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they spoke up to find Damita an amazing home.
Damita is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her foster report ended with Farfel's feeling certain that she would be a great addition to any loving and responsible family.
Damita's foster mom had the following to say about this sweet puppy....My teenage daughter brought this beautiful puppy home last night, a gift from a teenage boyfriend. I am told she is 8 weeks old (although her more advanced behavior would speak of being closer to 10 - 12 weeks). She is SO sweet (I'm now a huge fan of this breed mix) She's also very mellow, responsive and in all respects feels like a very trainable puppy who would be a delightful addition to any family. Damita is so smart that she's starting to sit by the door when she wants to go out...such a genius.
Sadly I cannot allow my daughter to keep her as I work long shifts and we cannot give her the daily attention that she needs to become a well trained adult dog.
Damita is incredibly beautiful...with a gorgeous cottony-soft coat that is silky-shiny with the purest of white and tans. Damita is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and willing...very typical of the cross of a Lab and a Boxer.
Since Damita is just a baby, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - she will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs, cats and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Socialization Class followed by group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior.
We're open to Damita finding her forever home with active retirees or a dog-crazy family with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Damita loves everyone at this point...we want to nurture this sweetness by placing Damita with family members who are very gentle and kind...yet set appropriate boundaries to guide a young puppy.
Damita will be up to date on her vaccinations but will be unfixed due to her young age. Farfel's will be happy to pay for Damita's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used.
