My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is a courtesy posting for DRLA, Dachshund Rescue of Los Angeles and Taco's foster mom, Nikki Ruhl.

This handsome, ten year old weighs in at 25 pounds. He was rescued within two days of his foster sister, Shasta's rescue - both came from high kill shelters. Taco was an owner surrender to the shelter - his owner dumped him at the shelter with severe trauma to his front right paw. He is missing all the claws on that paw and has since had paw repair surgery to alleviate the damage. At the moment, he is not bearing weight on that paw but he doesn't let this old injury keep him down - he can run and play like a puppy. He is a sweet and gentle soul who loves to sleep in bed under the covers with his favorite tiger stuffed toy - although as time passes in his foster home, he spends less and less of it with his tiger toy. Even though he loves being close to his humans - he is not needy or demanding about it. He can chill out in your lap while you read a book or type. Taco is house-trained and knows a few commands like sit and stay. He would do great with children. His foster mom has senior cats however they became high strung when Taco and Shasta moved in and so their foster mom keeps them separate so the cats can relax. However his foster mom has never seen Taco react to the cats - no barking or trying to get them and she feels that he would do well with a cat who is accustomed to dogs of his size. If you are interested in learning more about Taco and meeting him, please contact his foster mom, Nikki Ruhl at (805) 294-3183 or nikkiruhl@yahoo.com.
