Laverne & Sofie's Story...
Laverne and Sofie are super sweet senior Dachshunds. They had a home but were surrendered to another rescue and now have made their way to Friendship. It's not know why they were surrendered. Laverne is the smooth haired Dachshund. She is 8 years old. Sofie is the wirehaired and is 10 years old. Laverne had a cherry eye when her photo was taken. That has been repaired. Both girls just had dentals too. They are quiet and seem to enjoy each others company. Both could stand to loose some weight. Laverne and Sofie would love to find a home together but can be adopted separately.

If you have kids and/or another dog in your family and are interested in adopting a Friendship dog please bring them with you for a meet and greet. No appointment is necessary. Stop by anytime during regular business hours.

All dogs receive one or more vaccinations, a basic veterinary examination, are wormed, heartworm tested and spayed or neutered. Dogs 3 months and older are micro-chipped.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Laverne & Sofie, a Elyria Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Elyria, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Elyria.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Elyria already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Elyria breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Elyria paves the way for another one to be saved.
