Chewy's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, up to date with shots, and good with cats.

Chewy's Story...
Chewy is a ~1 year old chihuahua mix. He's a super sweet lover boy with women but is nervous around men. He's mostly house trained, loves to jump into our arms and is great with cats and small dogs (nervous growls & runs away from large dogs).

Unlike our cats, we try to have our dogs in foster homes throughout the week. IF a dog is in a foster home, they come in on Saturdays from 11:00am to 4:00pm. Arrangements can be made to have specific dogs brought in during the week- just give us a call or email to see if the dog you are interested in is in a foster home and set up a meeting time if necessary.

Our adoption fees include the following: all of our dogs/puppies are current on vaccinations (DHPP and Rabies if over 3 months of age) at the point of adoption, dewormed, heartworm tested and current on preventative, microchipped, treated for fleas/ticks and are spayed or neutered. Our large dog adoption fee is generally $140 + tax. Our small dog and puppy adoption fee is generally $175 + tax. Adoption fees may vary in special circumstances. Due to space limitations, we do not hold dogs.

Because we are on a busy street, we require that all dogs leaving the shelter be in a carrier or on leash. All pets remain up for adoption until an approved application is processed and their adoption fee paid.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Chewy, a Brookings Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) for sale in Brookings, or seeking a Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) dog from a breeder in Brookings.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Brookings already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Brookings breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) breeders who help with Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Brookings paves the way for another one to be saved.
