Facts about Sheldon

  • Breed: Russian Blue
  • Color: Gray Or Blue
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Male
  • Hair: Short
Sheldon is a 4 year old neutered male and is such a sweet kitty. He has been in foster care for three weeks after being turned into the shelter for being a bully after being adopted as a kitten. Sheldon is a quirky boy who, at times, seems overwhelmed by the changes from being in the shelter where he had been since 5/15/17 to a foster. For the first 3 days, he stayed under the bed in the foster room. Day 4 door was opened and he made an appearance Sheldon came nose to nose with his foster mom's cats and dogs. When the situation become too stressful, back under the bed. With people, Sheldon is great and can be very vocal. He likes being scratched and brushed. Loves playing and knows fetch. Sheldon generally ignores small dogs but has some concern about some of the cats. It is unknown how he would be with kids. Sheldon would love to be the center of attention. For questions about Sheldon, please contact his foster mom, Kay at 913 961 3146 or at kayeubank@aol.com.

About Heart of America Humane Society

About Our Rescue Group...

The Heart of America Humane Society is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization helping to place shelter and foster animals into permanent homes in and around the greater Kansas City metro area.

Our goal is to save and improve the lives of Kansas City's homeless companion animals by promoting responsible pet ownership. The Heart of America Humane Society (HAHS) partners with the Lee's Summit Animal Shelter (Lee's Summit, MO) to manage a spay/neuter program and to increase pet adoptions into responsible, permanent homes.

Background
Our organization does not have a permanent facility or paid staff, so nearly all of our adoptions or other community involvement takes place on-site at pet stores and through other event venues. Some events raise awareness and bring in donations for our animal support efforts, while others help acknowledge and show appreciation for our own volunteers (who perform all duties outside of their regular jobs). HAHS maintains a News and Events Web page to highlight these efforts.

The cost of adoptions of puppies 5 months and younger is $200. While some of the adult dogs coming into our program are already spayed/neutered, all of the puppies require this expense from HAHS. The cost of dogs over the age of 6 months is $150. The cost of one kitten under the age of 5 months is $85 and for 2 kittens it is $130. The cost of one cat over the age of 6 months is $65 and for two cats it is $100.
