My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello there! Thank-you for clicking on my profile, I’d love to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about adopting me.

My name is Claire, but my foster mom likes to call me Claire Bear. :-) I am a 7 year old female Bichon mix who came to the kind people at NBS Animal Rescue when my mom was no longer able to care for me. Thankfully my foster mom and dad realized that I wasn't feeling well and they took me straight to the doggy doctor to help me feel better.

I had surgery to remove bladder stones and got some antibiotics to take care of my urinary tract infection that was giving me a lot of pain and I'm happy to share that I'm feeling much better now! I'm almost done with my antibiotics and the doggy doctor is very happy with how things went! Don't let my recent surgery scare you off from making me a part of your family though!! I am a sweet little girl who loves to spend time with my people, go for short walks, sniff around in my foster homes fenced yard, play with toys, and did I mention that I like to snuggle with my foster mom too? I'm a world class snuggler!

I'm a social gal who likes to meet new people. They always bring tasty treats and tell me how soft and fluffy my fur is. I am doing well with pottying outside, but I am pee pad trained as well. I need a home with a family who is home often to let me outside to do my personal business and to spend time with me. I would do well in a home with or without a fenced yard as long as my family was home often to go for walks and play with me.

I get along well with other friendly and mellow small dogs, am kitty cat friendly, and I'm just as smart as I am cute and friendly!

My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?

These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Family who is gone no longer than 4 hour periods or detailed description of daily dog walker listed on application.
- Children must be 8 yrs or older.

If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:

1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.

3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
