Oscar is a gorgeous silver tipped Persian. He was rescued from a local animal shelter, and is healthy and eating well. Oscar is very wary of other cats, and sometimes is wary even with his foster mom. We hope that, given time, he will learn to trust. He can be petted and picked up, but he can be unpredictable and strike out when he feels anxious or threatened in some way. He's just not quite sure about people yet, but we're convinced he has potential, and we're not giving up on Oscar. We are learning that he would be best as an only cat. He loves to chase teaser toys! He requires a very experienced adopter.

Our adoption events are held on alternating Saturdays of each month, at PETCO in Santa Monica, from NOON to 3:30. Our next adoption events are SATURDAY August 26 and September 9, 2017. The Santa Monica PETCO store is located at 2910 Wilshire Blvd., on the southeast corner of Wilshire and Yale ......Hope to see you there! If you plan to attend, please email us and let us know which cats you are most interested in meeting.

About Helping Persian Cats

About Our Rescue Group...

Helping Persian Cats rescues Persians, Himalayans, Exotic Short Hairs and other cats, and places them in responsible and loving homes with people who care! Our network of volunteers rescues primarily purebred cats, from local animal shelters in the southern California area, and from breeders who are no longer able to care for their cats, and from private owners in special circumstances. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. Contributions to Helping Persian Cats are deductible under section 170 of the IRS Code. We rely entirely on donations from the public!

Our volunteers and foster homes work hard every day to help Persians and other cats who are in need. All of our foster cats live in cage-free foster homes where we can best assess their personalities and health prior to adoption.

We believe that the happiest and healthiest life for a cat is as a spayed or neutered pet. We ensure that all of our adoptable cats are spayed and neutered BEFORE placing them in new homes. We do not rely on "promises" to get the operation performed in the future.

In addition to spay/neuter, all of our adoptable cats have been seen at least once by a private veterinarian, are tested for feline leukemia and aids, are vaccinated for FVRCP, are dewormed and flea-free, and have received other medical care as needed.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We show our adoptable cats every other Saturday at Petco in Santa Monica from 11:30 to 3:30pm. The address is 2910 Wilshire Blvd. To find out the date of our next adoption event, please email us at

If possible, we recommend that you submit your application prior to attending our adoption events.

Our Adoption Process...

The best way to contact us is by email.
If you find a cat that you are interested in adopting, please email for an application form at helpingpersians@hotmail. We will be happy to answer any questions.
We require all adopters to be approved for adoption, through completion of our application. We may sometimes require a home visit by one of our volunteers. We do not ship our cats - all adopters must meet the cat they wish to adopt.
An adoption fee is required.
