Krissy's Story...
Krissy is a bouncy and happy girl that came to CMACC as a stray. No background information is known about her, other than that she has been spayed. She is really social and friendly and enjoys attention. Krissy loves treats and will sit nicely for one! It's funny to watch her get the 'zoomies' outside as she looks so cute as she scoots around! She would make a great family pet for anyone! Approx. 1 years old. We do not know how she is with kids or cats. She has not shown any aggression during her stay at the shelter. She has not reacted to any dogs here at the shelter. We strongly recommend a meet and greet for any potential adopter if they already have a dog in the home. Krissy does very well keeping her kennel clean here at the shelter. This is not a guarantee that she is housebroken, as every environment is different and once she is adopted CMACC is not responsible to let her out to go potty. She seems to have characteristics of a Mountain Cur and a Basset Hound! Yes, she has shorter legs, how cute!!!

Adoption Fee: $300 plus tax

Animals that are adopted unaltered are required to show proof post-adoption of spay/neuter. You can visit/ adopt this animal at:

Central Minnesota Animal Care and Control

Hours are Mon-Fri Noon-4 pm (closed holidays)

Doggie 'meet and greets' with the resident dog are always encouraged pre-adoption. These meetings are just a general screening and NOT indicative of actual behavior once adopted and brought into a new home. We always recommend caution when introducing animals in the home.

WE NEVER RECOMMEND LEAVING YOUNG CHILDREN UNSUPERVISED WITH ANY ANIMAL. Because both animals and children are often unpredictable, we urge you to be caution when animals and children are together. CMACC believes all dog families need to be prepared to invest time and energy into training as well as provide common sense management of their new dog.

Most of the animals that come to our shelter were previously strays. We have no background info or vaccination or health history unless the info is provided above.

We do not DNA test the animals before adoption, so we do not know actual breed(s) of the animals. Ages are approximate.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Krissy, a Sauk Rapids Basset Hound/Mountain Cur dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound/Mountain Cur for sale in Sauk Rapids, or seeking a Basset Hound/Mountain Cur dog from a breeder in Sauk Rapids.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Sauk Rapids already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Sauk Rapids breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound/Mountain Cur breeders who help with Basset Hound/Mountain Cur rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Sauk Rapids paves the way for another one to be saved.
