Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Collie mix, female, 8 years.
BonBon is a Southern beauty with a little bit of “sass” & a whole lotta charm, which has earned her the nickname Dixie at home. True to the collie in her, BonBon is a fast learner – she learned to “sit”, “stay”, “shake”, and “high five” in just a few short weeks! BonBon’s favorite pastimes include walking and curling up near you in her bed. BonBon walks extremely well on a leash but she does have a herding instinct and is working on resisting the urge to chase passing cars and bark at the occasional dog, but her foster family has been working on this with great success. A home that can take her for quiet walks where she will not be tempted by traffic is desirable; she would love to take walks in the woods. BonBon has just finished heartworm treatment and can finally enjoy some longer walks! When she is cleared to be back to normal activity, this spunky gal will LOVE to play fetch, be a loyal walking companion, and enjoy accompanying you on your outdoor activities. This brown-eyed girl was found as a stray and we are not sure of her backstory, but BonBon does have some trouble sharing treats and toys with other dogs, she would likely be happiest as an only dog, or maybe living with a mellow male. BonBon also can be a bit reserved with some handling but once she has built trust with her people she is fine for everyday handling, although being brushed is something she does not always like! Thankfully we have a very nice groomer who understands her. Patience, consistency, and a routine that works for all will do the trick, and BonBon will continue to shine.
** If you are interested in adopting this dog, you must first complete an adoption application at http://peppertree.org/adoptapp.php. Or visit our site (http://peppertree.org/adoptlist.php) and learn about other Peppertree dogs. *Note: visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
