Zeus's Story...
How could anyone resist a face like this? Zeus is a one year old neutered male Anatolian Shepherd Dog mix. We do not know what he is crossed with, but he looks like a miniature version of an Anatolian. Right now he weighs appx 55 pounds and stands appx 23 inches at the shoulder. When Zeus' owners moved, instead of taking him with them, they dumped him at the shelter. Luckily, we saw him on the shelter website and he is now in foster care outside the Bay Area near Antioch (northern CA). Zeus is a very happy fellow. He has a cheerful personality, is good with other dogs, and, according to the shelter, he is good with cats. We have not yet been able to evaluate him with children. He should be ok with kids past the toddler stage, as he might accidentally knock a little one over in play. He is good in the house, and seems to be potty trained. He enjoys napping on the floor while foster mom goes about her daily duties. This is a really nice boy and will make an excellent family pet. Why Adoption is a Great Option

Zeus, a Antioch Anatolian Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Anatolian Shepherd for sale in Antioch, or seeking a Anatolian Shepherd dog from a breeder in Antioch.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Antioch already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Antioch breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Anatolian Shepherd breeders who help with Anatolian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Antioch paves the way for another one to be saved.
