My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Yaco is around 2-3 years old and most likely a Shepherd Mix. He came to the Animal Advocacy from a local shelter where he had been adopted and returned four different times. All of these times he was returned because he is "just too much dog."

Yaco is the sweetest boy with just as much personality to go along with that sweetness. He has just been a bit misunderstood. He loves his humans and is so eager to please; he just needs a loving human/family to hold strong to their discipline (and a little motivation with a training treat goes a long way.) He is incredibly intelligent and knows the rules but he still needs to be reminded every once in a while. But don’t let his puppy dog eyes fool you when he is being disciplined; he knows the rules and he definitely knows that his ‘I am sorry eyes' he has mastered could melt even the coldest of hearts. He would be a lap dog if he could fit on a lap and his will is no match against a good belly rub. He LOVES tummy rubs!

Yaco is okay with other dogs but needs to be introduced correctly. He can play a little rough and doesn’t know his own strength at times. His foster mom has a one year old Border Collie Mix who seems to be his only match in ‘ruff’ housing. His foster would recommend that he be an only dog in the home or that his energy level and play are equally matched by his furry counterpart and that play is always monitored. He is not good with cats and would do best in a home with older children. The most important thing his human/furever family could do for Yaco would be to continue his training and take him for daily walks, runs, or hikes. Once he has had his walk or daily exercise you could not ask for a better companion and friend. His foster mom warns that he will steal your heart; just as he has hers.

Yaco has been neutered, current on vaccinations, tested negative for Heartworm and is also micro chipped.

***PLEASE NOTE***
German Shepherd or Shepherd mixes will not be attending our Adoption/Meet & Greet events, as it is just too stressful for them. Please use the above information to apply to adopt or to set up a meet and greet with one of our Shepherds. Thank you!
