PLEASE READ ENTIRE BIO BEFORE APPLYING FOR PENNY
Penny is a beautiful, absolutely adorable little 3 yr old cocker spaniel.
Many will want to adopt Penny based on her photo, her physical appearance, but she is NOT your ordinary dog.
Penny has special needs that will require a very special person that understands her.
Penny has severe separation anxiety, she will become destructive when left alone.
She becomes extremely attached to her person and really needs someone that is home all the time, and can work with her on the separation anxiety.
She does have a very loving and affectionate side to her when it comes to her person.
Penny also has a "quirky" kind of temperament and will bite if handled incorrectly or too much.
When first coming into our care her foster was bitten when trying to wipe her paws, pick her up, or trying to "make her" do something she didnt want to do.
Penny has made progress since her foster has been working with her, but she needs someone willing to deal with her issues.
She is NOT for just anyone, again, she will need that special person, someone seasoned in working with behavioral issues of this nature.
We are definitely looking for someone that knows this breed and has the experience/knowledge to continue with her training.
Penny is fostered in a home with another female cocker and a cat.
She has been fine with all the dogs she meets when walking or hiking and really doesn't even react when other dogs come around
She is house-trained and needs a fenced in yard.
She will need an adult only home, NO CHILDREN.
Penny is spayed and up to date on all vaccines
Serious Inquiries Only !!
From her Foster mom
Penny is an adorable 3 year old soon to be 4 and is very lovable. She will snuggle with you 24/7. She
needs to be touching you. She is sweet, energetic and loves to chase her balls. She loves to squeak her
squeaky toys. She doesn’t chew them up like most dogs do. She just walks around squeaking her toys.
She gets along with other dogs and cats too. She loves people and kids. She likes to ride in the car, loves
to go for walks, dances for her treats and loves water. Oh and she always howls when The Golden Girls
show comes on! So cute! So she sounds like the perfect dog for your family right? Well Penny suffers
from Separation Anxiety. She will cry, bark, howl and paw at the doors and windows when you leave the
room or the house and she will continue until you return. We have worked her up to 2-3 hours without
doing damage now but that’s about her limit. You see she was never left alone for her first 3 years of her
life so she doesn’t know how to be without a human with her all the time. She is not crate trained and
due to her anxiety our Behaviorist said it would not be beneficial to her now. She will be the perfect
companion for a retired couple or someone that works from home. She does need a fenced in yard.
Because of her need to be with you all the time she will scoot out any open door. We are looking for a
no children (under 12) home for her because of her sensitivity to having her ears and paws touched. I’m
sure as she gets older and settled into a home she will be able to overcome this separation anxiety. If
you have the time and want a constant loyal and lovable companion, then Penny’s the dog for you.
