My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dolly is extremely smart and focused. She bonds with people quickly. While I do have cats, I would not recommend her for a home with cats (unless the adopter is very animal savvy and can spend a lot of time on proper introductions and interactions). She loves her toys and to run around and play tag in the yard. When she is awake she is very active. She is very enamored with the young kids that play in the alley behind our house, and they have stopped to pet her which she loves. She is pretty mouthy, so I think she would love having young children around her, but they would need supervision because she likes to chew on anything that comes near her mouth, including fingers and toes. I started to work on a little obedience today with "Come" and "Sit" and she caught on very quickly. She is doing well with house training. We are also working on crate training which is improving, although there are still times she struggles with it. Overall, she is a smart, loving, high energy girl who I think will love having a family to be active with. FOSTER UPDATE: Dolly did a great job playing tag and keep away the toy with my 9 year old nephew today who is visiting from out of town. They enjoyed some snuggles too! It did require supervision but everyone had a good time. FOSTER UPDATE: 6/26 - Dolly is 13 wks old. She is now crate trained! She is also consistent with the "sit" command and knows "come" but still needs work on consistency. And, she taught herself how to fetch with the "go get it" command AND she taught herself how to use potty bells to alert me to take her out!! What a smart little girl she is!! And, of course, she still has plenty of kisses for all her people!
If interested in adopting, please visit www.masrescue.org and click on "Adopt Here". You will find the adoption application at the bottom of the page. The adoption fee is $300.00. Please Note: 100% of all the adoption fees collected are used to care for the animals, and pay our ever increasing vet bill. We appreciate your interest in adopting from a rescue organization. We understand the desire to meet our "cuties" as soon as possible, but because we operate entirely out of foster homes, we need to limit visitation to approved applicants only. Once your completed application is submitted by you and approved by MASR, we will be glad to schedule your visit. This puppy has been examined by our vet, and provided with first vaccinations and initial preventatives. Please be aware that it is the opinion of this rescue group, in conjunction with dog behaviorists, that a young puppy benefits greatly with proper socialization. We will only place puppies in homes where they have the opportunity to be with someone all day, travel to work, or have special arrangements, such as Puppy Day Care, Dog Walker, etc. Puppies benefit greatly from Obedience Training - and we encourage you to check out http://www.pupsdogobediencetraining.com/ . They offer a great discount for training of puppies coming from MAS Rescue! Breed Selection is 'Best Efforts' given by shelter staff, veterinarians and rescue volunteers. NO guarantees are implied. Please note that small breeds are not well designed for families with young children as everything about them is more delicate and will require careful handling. Remember, adoption is a commitment for the lifetime of your new furry friend; dogs could live 15 years or more!!
