My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Some say it's the ticking. Others, the slightly bulging eyes. A select few attribute it to the paws--a half-size too large and angled out just so. What it is, I don't know, but I've got it. I believe the French call it je ne sais quoi. Sure, I'm a chowhound and have no qualms about knocking over a trash can if I smell something tasty inside. But did you know I was a hopeless stray, a forgotten beagle who beat heartworms? A once portly pup who has slimmed down to a trim 28lbs at 13-inches tall? It's true. My life story is the thing of novels. No, I can't recall many of the details, but my passion and curiosity must have been born of drama. Look at my eyes as I watch you brush your teeth and load the dishwasher. Do you see their depth? I'm sure you do. I ponder this often and have yet to find the answer, but I do not know if I love humans or other dogs more. Of course, I love food first, but that's a given. I live with an older beagle who isn't one for play. Try as I might, he won't even humor me with a game of chase. I dream of the day I have a furry companion of my own, but I'd also be content in a home where humans were almost always around. Oh, how I love companionship! If you're thinking of adopting me, let me sweeten the deal: I learned to use a doggie door in hours and have had exactly two accidents in the house, and those were in my first days here. I don't bark excessively--that's unbecoming a hound of my maturity (5 years old). I am eternally grateful to the human who plucked me from the streets and to the group who has given me shelter, but my eyes are fixed on the horizon--on my forever home. Whose story will intersect with mine? Fill out the application and find out.
