Elliott was rescued from the Ramona Animal Shelter. He is about one and a half years of age. He is one of the BEST dogs that I have had in the rescue in that he is very well-balanced and well-adjusted around people and also other dogs. He is quiet, friendly, sweet, can be playful with the right doggie match, but mainly loves to chill out near me. He loves to hang out near his person, so make sure there is also a pet bed in your office! He is very much a Velcro dog and is a great balance of playing with another dog and also chilling out.
Though in a very soft sense, Elliott is most likely a Pit Bull mixed with a smaller dog, such as a Corgi or Dachshund. He does have a pit look, and what I call a pit trot, but he is a total low-rider (he is very short in stature), and only weighs 29 lbs. He is a GREAT dog, so please, no stereotyping! The shelter marked Elliott as an unknown Shepherd mixed with Corgi, because there is NO reason to label every dog on the planet as a pit mix. Personally, I LOVE these low riding dogs! The reason is because you can get a larger dog feel while still getting a smaller dog, which is really nice. Elliott is a diamond in the rough! He is an all-around good dog with a stellar, happy personality and cute to boot, and a GREAT medium size! He is not a barker and is obedient and is non-destructive in my house.
Elliott is potty trained (though potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment) and has never had an accident in my house. He is crate-trained (at the rescue, dogs are crated to eat, sleep, and if I have to leave for a bit) and does exceptionally well, not making a peep when it comes time to be crated or it is bedtime. We have not tested him with kids, but I feel he would be fine. I do not know if he would play with kids, but nothing about him strikes me as worrisome for kids, and cats are a complete unknown. He does well on the leash, but can use a bit more practice to be less meandering and pulling.
The home we seek for Elliott is a home with another dog of any age, with a playful young pup, OR, as an only dog in the home. In the rescue pack, there is an array of small dogs, both male and female, and one large female pit bull; therefore, Elliott has mainly been observed around dogs that are smaller than him and he has done exceedingly well. He plays with the little dogs! They wrestle and chase and have fun. I would really love for Elliott to be placed in a home with at least one small dog so that he can have a pal. (All rescued dogs must be primarily indoor dogs, never to be excluded to the outdoors only; therefore, dog doors are a huge plus! A crate on-hand would be beneficial for Elliott during a transitional phase to a new place, but eventually he can be left loose and overall, he does not seem to have a strong need for a crate.)
