Meet cutie pie Kia! This lovely lady is looking for a second chance at a forever home. Kia is currently on medication for her thyroid, and will likely be on medications for life. She is also on a special diet to help her overcome her weight loss issues. Kia is selectively dog reactive and would do best as the only animal in the home. While in foster, Kia has started working on her dog reactivity issues and is happy to walk past other dogs from a safe (10 ft.) distance, provided she is receiving positive reinforcement with treats. According to her foster, Kia prefers to spend most of her time lazing about the house, and would do best in a home where someone is home frequently. Kia loves people and simply wants to be in the centre of the action! If you think that you might have the perfect spot for this lovely girl, please come by the shelter to fill out an application and speak with dog staff! Please note that Kia is currently in foster so all meetings with her will have to be arranged ahead of time!

About BC SPCA - Victoria Branch

About Our Shelter...

See our website at www.spca.bc.ca/Victoria for all of our current adoption prices, hours of operation, etc.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
