KAYLA's Info...

KAYLA's Story...
KAYLA was saved from one of the shelters we work with in Texas. Se is SPAYED, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm and tick-disease tested; Negative and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 2 May 2015 and has an estimated weight of 35 pounds. KAYLA has been listed as an Australian Shepherd. We have no way of knowing the true breed, it is up to you to decide what you think she breed/s is.

It is important to note that KAYLA is a high energy herding breed and you really need to be experienced with this working group, or at least have done a lot of research, have support and confident you have the lifestyle to accommodate this beautiful girl.

KAYLA is stunning inside out, she, as mentioned is high energy, she loves to meet people and gets all excited and can be vocal. She loves to run and chase and play and basically do anything that requires burning energy. It would be good to have another dog so she can play and burn off some of the excess energy. She is a very happy, playful, go-lucky girl, full of fun, life and energy.

KAYLA although approximately 2 years old is still very "puppy", but is also very affectionate and loves to get cuddles and her belly rubbed and ear scratched. She loves toys and especially loves to chew on the cow hooves. She gets on great with other dogs of all sizes. We do NOT have cats at the rescue so are unable to say how she would get on with cats.

KAYLA does walk on a leash, however, she feels the need to hold the leash and will need some work to stop her doing this if leash walking in public places is intended.

KAYLA is going to need a family that is used to high energy, smart dogs, preferably someone who is familiar with the shepherd breed. Someone who understand that she will need training and guidance and learns that humans are in charge so that she doesn't get too much of a handful. She is going to need a very active family who can give her the lifestyle that she needs. Playing ball in the back-yard is not enough for this girl, she is going to need a lot of physical and mental exercise. Going on road trips, to new places, hikes and adventures and letting him explore the sights, smells and sounds the world has to offer will be to his and your benefit.

She is going to need a family that understands the importance of basic and advanced training. We advise that families work on their own basic training so that boundaries and expectations can be set and personalities and body language learnt in the process, which will help form a much stronger bond.

KAYLA is located in our kennel building and uses the extreme weather dog door to get in and out to her run. She has not had any accidents in the kennel.

KAYLA will make a great family addition to an experienced family. She is fun, active and very loving and deserves a good family and home to call her own.

KAYLA is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $500.

This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.

If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.

Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.

KAYLA is located at the rescue in Sebec, Maine. We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

KAYLA, a White River Junction Australian Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd for sale in White River Junction, or seeking a Australian Shepherd dog from a breeder in White River Junction.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in White River Junction already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a White River Junction breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in White River Junction paves the way for another one to be saved.
