Suspected Breed(s): Pug/Retriever mix
Age: 5-6 months
Weight: 16 lbs
Personality: Adventurous, Quick Learner, Shy, Playful, Trainable, Snuggler, Loyal,
Friendly, Affectionate, Eager to please, Adaptable
Observations with Dogs: Piper is initially fearful and submissive (she hides from other dogs or plays dead), but she is becoming braver.
Observations with Cats: Tested well with cats before her current foster home
Observations with Kids: Gentle with kids
House Training Progress: Piper is making progress on her puppy house training.
Crate Training Progress: Working on perfecting her crate training. She is comfortable to play and eat in her crate when her foster parent is at home, but right now she doesn’t like to be in it overnight. When Piper is left alone at home she is crated. She initially barks, but when the foster returns home she has quieted down.
Location: DC area foster
Rescued From: Bladen Co, NC
Additional Information: Piper is the sweetest dog with the perfect balance of puppy energy and shy affection. Still very young, Piper is slowly gaining confidence and trying new things, but she is so eager to learn and please! She is already making great progress in house training and crate training. Piper is wary at first with meeting new people, but after about a minute she starts to warm up. Piper will steal your heart with her one floppy ear and her endearingly clumsy puppy paws. Apply today to meet Piper!
Piper is names and sponsored by Leah M! Thank you for saving another life Leah!!

City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR&CK has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first served model).
Adoption fees: Dogs - $395 (including puppies) unless noted; $200 for senior dogs
Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR&CK. City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.
Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Bordatella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis.
Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs.
