PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.

6/7/17 Minnie came to us with a litter of puppies. Her previous owner said she is a dachshund/chihuahua mix, but Im not so sure about that. She does have the short little legs of a dachshund. She weighs about 12lbs and we believe she is about 3 years old. Minnie is nervous when approached by new people or when she goes to new places. But once she knows she is safe, she warms up and is a very sweet girl. She loves to sneak up on the bed with me and cuddle. She is crate trained and mostly house trained, although she will have a pee accident if I don't take her out often enough. It's a bit chaotic here with so many dogs and she would probably do better with house trained in a more structured environment. Minnie loves other dogs and even plays with some of the ones here. We have dogs of all sizes - 10lbs up to 140lbs - and she is great with all of them. I don't have young children but recently my 7 year old nephew came over and Minnie was very nervous with him. So I think she would do best in a home without young children. If her adopter has young children who visit, Minnie is easily controlled by putting her in her crate where she feels safe and secure. Minnie came to us with heartworms but we have had her treated and she is now healthy and ready for her forever home! She is located in Arkansas but can be transported out of state once adopted. About Adopt-A-Stray - VT

About Our Rescue Group...

Adopt-A-Stray was founded in Jan. 2010, by Kelley Prichard. Since then, it has grown to include a few wonderful volunteers who work very hard to help ensure that our pets are place in loving, forever homes. We are based in Alexander, AR, but we list all of our available pets in the northeast. We work with several different transporters to get our babies to their new homes in the northeast once they are adopted. The transporters we use most often are Got Orphans Transport (www.gotransporters.com) and Alpha Dog (www.alphadogtransport.com).All pets are given age appropriate vaccinations before they leave. Every pet is seen by our vet prior to transport. If you see a pet listed that interests you, please be sure to read the description thoroughly and inquire to the email address listed. Thank you for considering a rescue dog!
