My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi guys! My name is Tofu. I am such a great dog. I love people and I have a friendly and fun personality. I love to play. I like toys of all kinds and I love to romp and run in the fenced yard. I am a spayed female mutt who weighs about 50 lbs. I'm a young gal, probably only 1 year old. I am smart and I like to learn, so I would really enjoy a home with people who will continue to train me and teach me all the great things that every dog should know. I am housetrained and crate trained. I know behavior commands "come," "sit," "down," "give paw," "other paw" and "spin." Some of my hobbies and favorite things are cuddling, chewing on my yummy bone toys, playing outside and taking long walks. I am a very sweet, loving dog. I am happy and I even smile in my sleep sometimes. I love being a lapdog and being close to my people. I love to share attention and affection. I play with the neighbor dog through the fence. We run up and down and sometimes I try to take her toys through the fence. I am a playful pup! Although I love all people, I am totally a mama's girl. I am devoted, loyal and a constant companion to my foster mom. And the only reason my foster mom can't keep me is because me and the cats are not seeing eye-to-eye, and it's not even me. That cat hates me and teases me when I'm in my crate. So I have to find a forever home with someone else who will love me just as much. I am a great dog who just needs a home with someone who will spend time with me and treat me like a beloved family member. Adoption fee: $75. Adopt a pair: $115. Fee includes testing, deworming, vaccinations, spay/neuter, 60 days of free pet insurance, one session with a certified behavior trainer and microchip.

Adoption and Foster Care Application

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Why is labeling a dog such a big deal? A label will stick with a dog for the rest of its life. A label can mean discrimination, losing its home or even death. Labels are a problem for the dogs when we, as the local experts on animals, allow adopters, politicians and community members to think that the label we assign can predict who that dog is or will be.

Adoption Process:
Complete the application at www.pawsforliferescue.org. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the mandatory, minimum two-week adjustment period with the pet as part of your family. You will pay the non-refundable adoption fee at the start of the two-week adjustment period. This pending period allows your new dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the adjustment time as needed and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption. Feel free to email if you have any questions.
